One of the most powerful arguments that turns people against trans individuals is the claim that trans people are ruining the fairness of sports because men are participating in women’s sports.

While I acknowledge that there are many controversies surrounding how to address transgender issues, this is the weakest argument and has no persuasive power.

 

To me, this argument sounds like the news where a soccer player in a South American country was shot for scoring an own goal. Since when has sports become the dominant, number-one priority in our lives?

 

To put it bluntly, this argument is no different from the gladiators in the Colosseum being sentenced to death. The only difference is whether that death happens before our eyes or not. Even today, many transgender individuals take their own lives because of struggles with their identity. Your entertainment cannot be more important than their lives.

When F1 introduced the halo system, people said it made the sport less exciting. However, now no one opposes the halo or doubts its effectiveness. There are much more difficult and sensitive issues surrounding transgender individuals. But sports is not one of them.
