20250604 - Future Drone Warfare

- 앞으로의 전쟁의 모습은 완전히 달라질 것 같다. 그 중심에는 드론이 있을 것 같다. 

- 상대적으로 전력이 열세인 우크라이나가 새로운 기술을 활용하여 시도하는 전술들은 아주 효과적으로 러시아를 공격하고 있다. 

- 이는 상대적으로 재래식 병력에서의 열세를 극복하고자 하는 북한에게도 많은 참고가 될 것이다. 

- 미래에는 얼마나 많은 드론을 빠르게 생산해낼 수 있는지가 국가의 전쟁 수행 능력에 아주 중요한 역할을 할 것이다. 

 

- 특히 우크라이나 군이 드론을 제작, 생산, 훈련하는 과정은 테크 회사들의 애자일 방법론과 많이 닮아있다. 빠르게 저비용으로 프로토타입을 만들고 빠르게 개선해가며 실전에 내놓는 이터레이션을 반복하고 있다. 

- 이번 Spider Web 작전에서는 머신러닝을 활용하여 타겟하고자 하는 목표물을 미리 학습시켜 놓았다고 한다. 

- 조선업, 기존의 방산업과 같은 제조업 역량과 동시에 드론을 효과적으로 제어, 학습시킬 수 있는 소프트웨어 역량이 요구되는 분야이다. 이런 점에서 한국이 꽤 잘할 수 있는 영역이 아닐까 하는 생각이 든다. 

- 한국의 성장 동력에 대한 걱정이 많이 있었는데 미중 갈등의 심화, 국제 정치에서의 중국에 대한 견제가 계속되면서 국가적으로 관리해야하는 품목들의 중국 아웃소싱은 줄어들 것 같다. 생각해보면 중국으로 가던 물량이 줄어든다고 했을 때, 이를 소화해낼 수 있는 국가가 몇 곳 없다. 한국의 제조업에 새롭게 찾아오는 기회가 아닐까?

- 드론 산업도 그 중 하나일 것 같다는 생각이 든다.

• Ukraine, relatively weaker in traditional military power, is effectively attacking Russia by adopting new technologies and tactics.
• This will be of great reference to North Korea, which seeks to overcome its disadvantages in conventional military strength.
• In the future, how quickly a country can mass-produce drones will become a critical factor in its warfighting capability.
• Especially notable is how Ukraine is designing, producing, and training with drones in a way that resembles tech companies using agile methodologies—rapidly creating low-cost prototypes and iterating quickly based on feedback from the battlefield.
• In the recent Spider Web operation, Ukraine reportedly trained its drones using machine learning to identify target profiles in advance.
• This field requires both traditional manufacturing strength—like that found in shipbuilding or defense industries—and advanced software capabilities to control and train drones. That’s why I believe this is a sector where Korea could excel.
• There have been concerns about Korea’s future economic growth engines. But as U.S.-China tensions escalate and geopolitical efforts to curb Chinese influence continue, nations will reduce their reliance on Chinese outsourcing. When we think about which countries can handle that redirected demand, there are only a few options. This could be a new opportunity for Korea’s manufacturing sector.
